What we believe
-
We believe and accept the entire Bible as the infallible Word of God, fully inspired by the Holy Spirit; the only and perfect order of our faith and manner of living; superior to conscience and reason; to which nothing can be added or taken away, which is the power of God unto salvation to believers. (2 Peter 1:21; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Romans 1:16; 1 Thessalonians 2:13)
With this declaration we intend to affirm that the only foundation of our faith is the Holy Bible, perfect in law through which we live and work. It contains everything necessary for the salvation of man, and for this reason we cannot accept any doctrine which is not expressly declared and approved in the Bible. We have need of anything in addition and this is our answer to any other belief which does not have its origin in, or foundation in God's Holy Word. We believe there is only one true and living God, eternal, with unlimited power, Creator of all things; and in the one God are three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 4:6; Matthew 28:19; 1 John 5:7; Luke 3:21-22)
We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the second Person of the Trinity; He is the Word made flesh Who assumed the human body through the womb of virgin Mary, and so He is true God and true man, two natures in one person, the divine and human. (John 1:1-2, 14; Luke 1:34-35; Matthew 1:23)
We affirm that the only true God manifested Himself with His title "Lord Jesus Christ" and this is His personal name. It is not applied in the New Testament to either the Father or the Holy Spirit; therefore it belongs exclusively to the Son, Lord Jesus Christ. In terms of His divine and eternal nature, He is the only begotten of the Father, but in as far as His human nature, He is also Son of Man. He is therefore recognised as both God and man; and being therefore both God and man, He is "Emmanuel", God with us.- We believe in the divinity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His sinless life, His miraculous ministry, in His substitutionary atoning death the price paid for the sin of all mankind, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, as only mediator between God and man, in His imminent return for believers and subsequently in power and glory to establish His Kingdom on earth. (1 Peter 2:22; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Acts 2:22; 1 Peter 3:18; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; Romans 1:4; 2:24; 1 Corinthians 15:4; Acts 1:911; John 14:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:25)
- We believe in the existence of angels all created pure and that part of them fell into corruption and perdition as the direct result of Satan, a rebellious angel, who will be eternally punished together with all fallen angels. We also believe that Satan's influence brought about the downfall of man, and now seeks to destroy the faith of every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, but will be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire. (Genesis 3:1-15; Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13; James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:18; John 13:2; Matthew 25:41)
- We believe that repentance and faith in the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, the one and only High Priest, are indispensable for the purification from sin for anyone who accepts Him as personal saviour and Lord. (Romans 3:22-25; Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 1:18-19; Ephesians 2:8)
- We believe salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This experience is also known as the regeneration of the new birth and is an instantaneous and complete operation of the Holy Spirit whereupon the believing sinner is regenerated, justified, and adopted into the family of God and becomes a new creation in Christ Jesus our Lord, and heir of eternal life. (Titus 2:11, 3:5-7; 1 Peter 1:23; 1 John 5:1;)
- We believe in water baptism by single full immersion in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, which is enjoined upon all who have repented and have believed in Christ as Saviour and Lord, and that it is symbolic of our identification with Christ in His Death, Burial and Resurrection. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 14:47-48, 2:38-39; Romans 6:4-5; Colossians 2:12; Mark 16:16)
- We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit as an experience received subsequent to the new birth, which is manifested with the initial sign of speaking in tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance, and further evidenced by a life of sanctification and obedience to the entire truth of the Holy Scriptures and in power announcing the entire gospel to the world. (Acts 2:4, 42-46; 8:12-17; 10:44-47, 19:2-6; Mark 16:20; John 16:13; Matthew 28:19-20)
- We believe and celebrate the Lord's Supper, consisting of the elements of bread and wine, in remembrance of the death of the Lord and announcing His return, as a memorial of His sufferings and death, and we administer the supper to whoever is baptised by full immersion according to the gospel and is living a holy and worthy life before God and society. (Luke 22:19; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
- We believe that Jesus Christ, Himself, bore all our infirmities and therefore we obey the following commandment: "Is there any sick among you? Let him call for the Elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him". (James 5:14-16; Matthew 8:16-17; Isaiah 53:4-5; 1 Peter 2:24; Mark 16:17-18)
- We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the everlasting punishment of the wicked and the glorification of believers (the redeemed) who persevered in the faith until the end. (Acts 24:15; Matthew 24:12-13; 25:46; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:6; 15)
